(3) In February, 1914 as I had not yet received a reply to

the above petition, I sent in a reminder to which I received

a reply on the 21st. April, 1914 informing me that, "as

I reveived my salary at the privileged rate I would not

receive an increase of salary then". This was the first

reply I had received to a petition which was sent in

three years previously.

(4) In November, 1914 I again petitioned the Government in

the form of a representation for His Excellency's reconsiderab

tion of my petition dated February, 1911 to which I received

a reply dated 1. 4. 1915 to the effect that I would not

derive any benefit from the promotion until the end of

September, 1916 (sighteen months hence).

(5) I respectfully claim that as my petition was originally

sent in in February, 1911 and as that petition was actually

approved on reconsideration, my promotion should take

effect from February, 1911 and not from the 30th. September,

1916.

(6) Had this been so I would have been entitled, under the new

soale, to receive £250 from that date and would have

the

attaåhed maximum (1.6.) £270 in February, 1914, but unfortun-

ately, through the delay in replying to my first petition,

I have lost, up to the present time, £80 and if my promotion

does not take effect until 30th. September, 1916, say, £110.

It appears to me to be most unfair that I should lose to

this extent, through no fault of my own.

I therefore have the honour to apply that the date at

which my promotion should take effect be altered to February,

1911 and that I be remunerated accordingly for my loss in

accordance with the previous section.
